LOS ANGELES (August 28, 2017) – Clint Holmes is set to release his forthcoming single “What You Leave Behind,” featuring Grammy nominated, platinum-selling saxophonist Dave Koz, to radio stations nationwide on September 11. “What You Leave Behind” is the second single from the acclaimed album Rendezvous. Earlier this year, the album track, “Say Something (featuring Ledisi),” hit No. 1 on the Smooth Jazz New & Active Chart, and enjoyed a lengthy stay in the Top 20 of the Smooth AC chart. Further, a club remix of Holmes’ “The Perfect Trance” is currently on the DJ Times chart.
Koz said, “When I originally wrote and recorded ‘What You Leave Behind,’ it was purely an instrumental… I never fathomed that anyone would ever write a lyric to it. But, when Clint came to me with his incredibly moving words –perfectly capturing the essence of what this song was all about, it was an instant ‘YES.’ And then, he delivered a vocal performance that completely delivers the message, in such a heartfelt way. I was blown away. The man is pure genius.”
Said Holmes, “This melody that Dave wrote was a tribute to one of his closest friends. When he told me about the relationship, it inspired me to write the lyric, and naturally, I was thrilled that Dave liked it. It’s really an honor to write and record with an artist as great as Dave Koz.”
Holmes’ Rendezvous was produced by eight-time Grammy Award-winner Gregg Field and offers a diverse playlist that reinterprets modern day and classic pop hits, soulful R&B, theatrical tunes, and numbers culled from the Great American Songbook.Rendezvous features Grammy Award-winners, including Patti Austin, Dee Dee Bridgewater, and Jane Monheit, along with multi-Grammy nominee Ledisi, jazz luminary Koz, and The Count Basie Orchestra. Parade.com said of the album, “Rendezvous, a labor of love for Holmes, includes the music he loves. But the album is also a reflection of the richly diverse and poignant musical legacy he continues to embrace.”
Fans will have just two performances left to catch Holmes at his limited residency at the Golden Nugget Las Vegas. At the Golden Nugget, in the showroom on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, at 8 p.m., Holmes has been dazzling audiences with his vast repertoire of music, including songs from the Great American Songbook, contemporary classics, stirring original pieces, and from his most recent album.
